A Crete-Monee senior has made a significant impact in the world of esports by securing consecutive IHSA esports state titles. Omar Romo's proficiency in soccer translates seamlessly into his gaming strategy, allowing him to dominate opponents with tactics honed on the field. His journey through the tournament was marked by overcoming higher-seeded competitors, culminating in a decisive victory that showcased his exceptional skills.

Romo's prowess extends beyond the virtual realm, as evidenced by his commitment to either collegiate soccer or esports. Following his repeated success, St. Xavier University has shown interest in recruiting him for their esports program. This year's championship featured an updated version of the game, presenting new challenges that Romo adeptly navigated. Local Athletes Secure College Futures Amidst Spring Assignments

Beecher’s Collin Malecha also committed to St. Mary’s in Minnesota for track.
