Hong Kong's International Lighting Fairs Shine a Light on Smart and Sustainable Solutions
2025-03-11

As Hong Kong solidifies its position as Asia's premier trade fair hub, it is set to host two significant lighting events: the 16th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition) and the second edition of the Smart Lighting Expo. Running from April 6 to 9 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, these fairs will showcase an impressive array of eco-friendly and innovative lighting solutions under the theme "Go Smart • Live Green." The events aim to highlight advancements in smart living and sustainability, attracting professionals from around the globe. Last year, the twin fairs drew approximately 16,000 buyers from 107 countries and regions, underscoring their international appeal.

The rapid evolution of the lighting industry has redefined its role, now serving as a crucial element in enhancing well-being and improving environments. According to market research, the global smart lighting market was valued at US$15.8 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 19.3% from 2025 to 2034. This expansion is fueled by initiatives like smart cities, the proliferation of smart home technologies, and continuous innovations in smart lighting solutions.

The Smart Lighting Expo offers businesses a comprehensive platform to capitalize on emerging opportunities within the smart lighting supply chain. Showcasing a wide range of products and solutions, including human-centric designs and energy-efficient innovations, this year's event introduces a new Digital Displays and Signage zone. Key players such as Bweetech, Creatrol Intelligence, LEDiFUTURE, Shuncom AIoT, and TYF will participate, alongside group pavilions from the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area, presenting cutting-edge lighting solutions.

The concurrent Spring Lighting Fair will serve as a one-stop trading platform for various lighting products. The debut of the Greenovation zone highlights sustainable building materials and lighting products, addressing the growing demand for eco-friendly construction solutions. Notable brands will gather in the Hall of Aurora to showcase innovative technologies, while other zones focus on commercial, decorative, residential, and technical lighting, along with lighting accessories.

Beyond product displays, the fairs will feature informative forums where industry experts will discuss market trends and developments. The Asian Lighting Forum on April 6 will explore adapting to the latest market standards and ESG development through case studies. On April 7, the Smart Lighting Solution Forum will delve into technological advancements in human-centric lighting and intelligent customized applications across different scenarios.

To provide a seamless sourcing experience, the events will adopt the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model, supported by the "Click2Match" online platform from March 30 to April 16. Additionally, "Scan2Match" will bridge offline and online interactions, allowing buyers to bookmark favorites, access product information, view floor plans, and engage with exhibitors even after the fair concludes.

To attract participants from key markets, the HKTDC offers special airfare deals and discounted hotel accommodations. Four airlines are providing reduced fares for overseas attendees, while over 40 hotels offer booking discounts for trade buyers. These initiatives ensure that the fairs remain accessible and attractive to a global audience.

Innovative and eco-friendly lighting solutions will be the star attractions at these fairs, reflecting the industry's commitment to smart living and sustainability. The events promise to be pivotal platforms for knowledge exchange, networking, and exploring the future of lighting technology.
