Initially, the department mandated the repayment of more than $132,000, but this amount was later reduced to just over $101,000 following discussions with the nonprofit’s legal team. Instead of complying with the repayment order, Balanced Nutrition opted to contest the decision through the North Carolina Office of Administrative Hearings.
