Captivating Couture: Milan Fashion Week's Timeless Beauty Moments

As the fashion world's spotlight shifted from London to Milan, the Spring/Summer 2025 collections delivered a captivating blend of timeless elegance and avant-garde flair. From the runways to the backstage, the beauty memos at Milan Fashion Week (MFW) paid homage to the past, transforming models into walking Italian archives of iconic looks.

Versace: Embracing the Rebellious Essence

Versace's SS25 collection channeled the brand's rich heritage, blending the iconic with the contemporary. Makeup artist Pat McGrath crafted a fresh yet rebellious look, starting with a spa-like base and adding a bold, mahogany-brown lip. This season's makeup, she explains, is "a way to do nude makeup but with that Versace edge," echoing the house's past triumphs, such as the 2006 fragrance Bright Crystal and the Spring 1997 Versus show.

Prada: Individuality Shines Through

At Prada, creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons collaborated with global makeup artist Lynsey Alexander to deliver a collection that celebrated individuality. While the majority of the models sported natural lips, one model was selected to wear a striking dark berry shade, a Monochrome Hyper Matte Lipstick in "Ultraviolet P57" enhanced with Prada Balm in "Astral Pink" for a shiny finish. As Alexander explains, "Mrs. Prada said the makeup concept was about revealing who the girls were as individuals."

Marni: Chasing the Sublime

Marni's SS25 show notes described beauty as "a white rabbit scampering across your yard... Though you fall short in capturing it, in the mad rush you find yourself somewhere wondrous." Makeup artist Yadim and hair stylist Paul Hanlon embraced this concept, creating a theatrical look with antenna-shaped eyebrows and a wind-swept hairstyle under oversized paper hats.

Gucci: Elegance with Charm

Gucci's SS25 collection celebrated "charm without excess," as described in the show notes. Makeup artist Lucia Pieroni and hair stylist Duffy channeled the swinging '60s with neutral lipstick shades, smokey cat eyes, and a "refreshed radiance" on the skin, achieved through the use of beauty mist, mattifying primer, and a no-makeup foundation and concealer application.

Bottega Veneta: Celebrating Self-Expression

Bottega Veneta's SS25 show was a celebration of self-expression and the confidence of innocence. Makeup artist Pat McGrath focused on the skin, using Skin Fetish: Highlighter + Balm Duo to create a wet, dimensional look, and added faux freckles with the PermaGel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil. The eyes were adorned with graphic black liner and metallic lashes, using the "Golden Muse" shade from the Luminous Legends: Mega Eye Shadow Palette.
