On May 2, the Intramural (IM) Fields at Penn State will host Movin’ On, an annual music festival organized entirely by students. This year marks the festival’s 50th anniversary, offering a diverse lineup that celebrates graduating seniors while remaining free for all attendees aged 18 and above. The event features performances from acclaimed artists such as All-American Rejects, Pusha T, Baby Tate, alongside rising star Claire Rosinkranz and local talent Fez, winners of Battle 2025. As one of the largest student-run festivals in the nation, Movin’ On continues to foster creativity and community spirit through its vibrant showcase.
This milestone edition of Movin’ On kicks off with Fez, the victors of Battle 2025—a competition designed to give Penn State performers a chance to open the festival. Comprising Xavier Hons, Jimmy Connely, and Max Hill, Fez blends eclectic influences into their unique "scuba rock" genre. Their energetic stage presence is complemented by theatrical attire, including red robes and fez hats, drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Devo and the Mummies. Following Fez, California-born artist Claire Rosinkranz takes the stage. Representing the Student Programming Association (SPA), Rosinkranz has captivated audiences since signing with Republic Records at just 16 years old. Her breakout single "Backyard Boy" introduced her emotive songwriting style to a global audience, establishing her reputation as a promising young musician.
Next up is Baby Tate, an Atlanta-based artist renowned for her innovative blend of rap, singing, and production skills. With hits like "I Am," she has earned recognition for her bold artistry and captivating live performances. As the sun sets, fans can expect an electrifying set from Pusha T, whose sharp lyricism and raw storytelling have cemented his status in hip-hop history. Known for collaborations with Kanye West and critically acclaimed albums, Pusha T brings intensity and charisma to every performance. Closing out the evening is the All-American Rejects, a band celebrated for over two decades of anthemic rock tunes. Led by Tyson Ritter, they continue to deliver high-energy shows, most recently highlighted by their cover of "Flagpole Sitta" released in 2024.
The Movin’ On festival not only highlights established musicians but also provides a platform for emerging talent within the Penn State community. Sponsored by Pepsi and supported by student activity fees allocated via UPAC, this event exemplifies how collective efforts can create unforgettable experiences. Through its rich history and continued evolution, Movin’ On remains a testament to the power of music to unite and inspire generations of students.
