Postponement of Norwich Food Truck Festival Due to Unfavorable Weather
2025-04-11

The anticipated Food Truck Festival in Norwich, originally planned for Saturday, has been postponed due to a dreary weather forecast. The National Weather Service predicts a mix of rain and snow, with rain persisting throughout the day after 8 a.m., accompanied by strong winds and cool temperatures. Event organizer Paul Petrillo cited concerns about attendee enjoyment and vendor success as reasons for rescheduling. A new date for the festival has yet to be announced.

The decision aligns with safety and comfort considerations given the expected inclement conditions. As outlined by Petrillo, the adverse weather would hinder both visitors' experiences and vendors' operations significantly. With high winds reaching up to 26 mph and temperatures hovering around 42°F, outdoor activities become less than ideal under such circumstances.

Initially, the festival was set to take place at Dodd Stadium located on Stott Avenue. This vibrant event promised an array of culinary delights from seventeen distinct food trucks offering diverse cuisines ranging from Italian pastas to Thai curries, along with local favorites like cheesesteaks and sweet cupcakes. Among these were notable names such as Bear’s Smokehouse renowned for its barbecue offerings, Dude’s Donuts famous for their unique flavors, and Chompers known for satisfying savory cravings.

Beyond just serving delicious meals, this gathering aimed to celebrate community spirit through additional attractions including booths featuring handmade crafts, artistic displays, military exhibits, and more. It was meant to be a free-entry weekend affair spanning across Saturday and Sunday where families could enjoy good food while supporting small businesses.

In light of these developments, those eagerly awaiting the festivities will now need to keep an eye out for updates regarding rescheduled dates ensuring they don’t miss out when the revised timeline is released.
