Resident Evil 2 on iPhone with Backbone One Controller
2024-12-12
Recently, I noticed that the remake of Resident Evil 2 has made its way onto several Apple devices, including those with the advanced A17 Pro chip like my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I couldn't resist and downloaded the game, which has always been a favorite of mine. However, I soon encountered an issue. The on-screen controls were not smooth enough to fully immerse myself in the game, and the auto-hit shooting feature didn't quite meet the requirements of a game that demands ammo conservation. There was only one way out - I needed a proper gaming controller. That's when I got the Backbone One 2nd gen, which holds a prominent position in our list of the best phone controllers.

Enhanced Gaming Experience with the Backbone One

After using the controller with the game, I must say it has been one of the most remarkable gaming experiences on a phone. In the past, I was a bit hesitant to invest in a phone gaming controller, but now I don't think I'll ever go back. It has opened up a whole new world of gaming possibilities for me.Resident Evil 2 is an excellent game, and the phone version looks and sounds great. It closely resembles the console release, except for the control aspect. When playing without a controller, everything has to fit on the screen, making it look quite confusing. But with the Backbone One, the game becomes much easier to play. It allows you to see more of the game and simplifies the controls. For example, you can enable auto-shoot, where Leon automatically fires as soon as he targets a zombie. In theory, this is a useful feature that works in many games. But in Resident Evil 2, where conserving equipment is crucial, there is a problem. The aiming on the screen is not always precise, so you often end up shooting zombies in random places instead of the head. With the Backbone, you can achieve the focused shooting that the game demands. Additionally, removing the screen clutter enhances the overall visual experience, making the burning streets and abandoned police station of Racoon City shine.Another advantage of the Backbone One is its practicality. One of the reasons I don't own a handheld device is that it takes up a lot of space in my bag. Devices like the Playstation Portal require a Wi-Fi connection to play. On the contrary, the Backbone One takes up less space, doesn't need to be charged frequently, and can be easily attached to and detached from the phone. This means I can use it whenever I feel like it without any hassle.I am excited to continue playing through the game, especially when dealing with MR X again. I had my doubts about how much fun it would be on a phone, but the Backbone One has actually motivated me to play more. The Xbox app also offers some great titles that are worth checking out.You can find Resident Evil 2 on the app store for any iPhone with an A17 Pro chip or any machine with an M1 chip or later running macOS Ventura or a newer version.
