Resolution Reached: Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul Settle Legal Dispute
2025-04-01

A longstanding legal feud has come to an end as Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul have resolved their defamation case out of court. The parties involved, including Hearn's company Matchroom Boxing and Glenn Feldman, reached a mutual agreement earlier this month, bringing closure to a contentious issue that began in September 2022. Lawyers for all sides formally requested the dismissal of the case on Monday, although the details of the settlement remain undisclosed.

The roots of this dispute trace back to allegations made by Jake Paul against Matchroom Boxing. During a September 2022 interview with iFL TV, Paul accused Matchroom of influencing veteran judge Glenn Feldman to favor their fighters in scoring decisions. Two high-profile matches were central to these claims: the initial Katie Taylor versus Amanda Serrano bout and the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua. Both contests ended with controversial split decisions, where Feldman's scorecards favored Matchroom fighters. In response, Hearn and Feldman strongly refuted Paul's accusations. Following the refusal of Paul to retract his statements, Matchroom pursued legal action, filing a $100 million lawsuit against Paul.

Though the courtroom drama persisted, both parties managed to collaborate professionally. They successfully negotiated deals for two significant fights: the second encounter between Taylor and Serrano, held last November during the Mike Tyson versus Jake Paul event, and an upcoming third match scheduled for July 11 on Netflix. This resolution not only highlights the importance of resolving disputes amicably but also underscores the potential for adversaries to work together towards common goals in the world of sports promotion.
