A groundbreaking ceremony took place in Detroit for the construction of a state-of-the-art entertainment venue by Cosm, an innovative company specializing in immersive experiences. This development marks the beginning of Bedrock’s highly anticipated Cadillac Square project. Scheduled to open in 2026, this facility will introduce the Shared Reality concept to the city, blending live sports, entertainment, and advanced visual technology within a unique domed theater setting. Jeb Terry, CEO of Cosm, expressed his belief in Detroit as one of America's premier cities, highlighting the importance of local partnerships and cultural integration in creating an engaging environment.
The new venue represents the first phase of the Cadillac Square development, located between Monroe and Randolph Streets close to Campus Martius Park. In collaboration with major sports networks such as NBC Sports, TNT Sports, and FOX Sports, Cosm plans to host live broadcasts of various sporting events including UFC fights, NBA games, and NFL matches. With a capacity for around 1,500 visitors, the centerpiece is a massive LED dome offering ultra-high resolution visuals. Adjacent areas will feature dining options combining elements of gastropubs, sportsbooks, and upscale lounges, alongside an outdoor deck providing panoramic views of downtown Detroit. These features aim to redefine urban entertainment spaces while meeting modern demands for interactive experiences.
This ambitious project reflects Detroit's adaptability amidst challenging times. Mayor Mike Duggan noted how initial plans for an office building shifted due to market conditions caused by the pandemic. Instead of focusing solely on traditional office spaces, the city embraced opportunities in housing, hospitality, and entertainment sectors. Kofi Bonner, CEO of Bedrock, announced progress on another component of the Cadillac Square project—a market hall expected to complement the entertainment venue upon completion. As part of their expansion strategy, Cosm continues establishing venues across key U.S. cities like Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, and now Detroit. Local architect firm Rossetti oversees design efforts ensuring authenticity through customized details specific to each location while maintaining consistent technological standards.
Residents like Rogelio Landin eagerly anticipate these developments recognizing their potential impact on revitalizing underutilized sites into vibrant destinations attracting diverse audiences nationwide. Such initiatives not only enhance local pride but also contribute positively towards economic growth fostering community spirit through shared enjoyment of world-class facilities available right within metropolitan areas transforming them into must-visit spots enhancing overall quality life experiences.
