Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 & Flip 7: Big Spec Leaks & Upgrades
2024-12-03
The next generation of Samsung's foldable phones is set to bring significant changes. One of the key aspects is the display size, which is crucial for the company to stay competitive in the market. Currently, there are some complaints about the limited increase in screen size in the Z Fold series. For example, the outer display of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 6.3 inches, and the inner display measures 7.6 inches. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a slightly smaller outer display by only 0.1 inches, while the main display remains the same. However, the Galaxy Z Fold SE, available only in China and Korea, saw a more substantial increase.

Expected Display Sizes for Galaxy Z Fold 7

According to recent rumors and insights, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to have the same display sizes as the Fold 6 SE. This means an inner display measuring roughly 8 inches and a 6.5-inch outer display. Such an increase would be a significant step forward for Samsung's foldable phone line. It shows the company's commitment to providing users with larger and more immersive display experiences.

Moreover, the potential for a wider outer display on the Z Fold 7 is also being discussed. From personal experience, it is known that the current outer display on the Z Fold 6 can be too narrow for comfortable use, especially when the phone is in a case. A slightly wider display would make it easier and more comfortable to use while folded, addressing a common concern among users.

In addition to the display size, there are other aspects that Samsung needs to consider. For instance, the thickness of the phone is another important factor. Samsung's head of mobile, TM Roh, has stated that they aim to make the Z Fold 7 as thin as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. Currently, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is 8.6mm thick, while the Z Fold 6 measures 12.1mm thick. Reducing the thickness by a significant amount will be a challenge, but it could set a new standard for foldable phones.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 Screen Increase

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also set to see an increase in screen size. Currently, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 display is notably smaller than the Motorola Razr Plus 2024. Young suggests that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 should grow from 6.7 inches to 6.85 inches, and the cover display should be around 4 inches. This would bring it closer in line with the Motorola Razr Plus 2024, providing users with a larger and more versatile folding experience.

While an increase in screen size is welcome, Samsung still needs to make better use of the cover screens on its foldables. The cover screen has the potential to be a useful tool for quick access to notifications and other features. By improving the functionality and usability of the cover screen, Samsung can enhance the overall user experience.

Competition in the foldable phone market is fierce, with devices like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold posing a challenge to Samsung. It is essential for Samsung to find a way to keep the Z Fold series as one of the best foldable phones. This will require continuous innovation and improvement in various aspects, including display size, thickness, and user experience.

As the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is still some time away, it remains to be seen how Samsung will deliver on these expectations. However, with the right strategies and technologies, Samsung has the potential to set a new benchmark in the foldable phone market.
