Samsung Unveils Comprehensive One UI 7 Camera Feature Rollout for Older Devices
2025-04-08

As Samsung continues to enhance its older devices, a recent announcement detailed the arrival of various One UI 7 camera features. While some functionalities like the revamped camera app interface and custom filters are set to reach numerous past Galaxy models, others such as Log video and Motion photo will have more limited availability. This update signifies a significant improvement in user experience across a wide range of Samsung's product lineup.

Expanded Features Across Multiple Generations

In an official statement on Samsung’s Korean Community forum, a company representative highlighted the extensive list of camera enhancements coming to previous flagship smartphones and tablets. Among these updates is the redesigned camera application interface, making one-handed operation more convenient by relocating key functions to the bottom of the screen. This feature will be available on devices launched from 2022 onwards.

The custom filter function, allowing users to tailor image aesthetics based on their preferences or existing photos, will also make its way to several earlier models. However, certain advanced capabilities like Log video recording remain exclusive to the latest S24 series. Additionally, Best Face technology, which enables users to replace undesirable facial expressions within group shots, extends compatibility to most 2023 flagships excluding the FE variant.

Other noteworthy additions include Audio Eraser for noise reduction in videos, Motion Photo functionality capturing brief moments before and after still images, and enhanced slow-motion capabilities via ultrawide lenses. These tools aim to provide photographers with greater creative freedom while simplifying post-processing tasks.

Furthermore, improvements in generative AI editing ensure better object removal without residual shadows alongside multi-sketch creation options within single frames. Portrait Studio upgrades offer refined control over lighting effects, whereas Auto Trim facilitates seamless trimming directly through Samsung Studio applications.

For professional-grade shooting enthusiasts, two additional ND filter strengths integrated into Expert RAW cater specifically towards achieving optimal daytime long exposures. Meanwhile, advancements in image translation preserve both textual clarity and surrounding backgrounds during overlaid conversions.

Lastly, expanded RAW image editing now encompasses six adjustable parameters—exposure, contrast, saturation, highlights/shadows adjustment, sharpness, and noise reduction—greatly enhancing post-capture flexibility across select compatible devices.

From a journalist's perspective, this widespread distribution of cutting-edge features demonstrates Samsung's commitment to maintaining relevance among legacy products. By continuously integrating innovative technologies into established lines rather than restricting them solely to new releases, they foster loyalty amongst consumers who appreciate ongoing support beyond initial purchase dates. Such strategic moves could potentially influence competitors' approaches towards software updates moving forward.
