This week's athletic competitions showcased the exceptional talents of young athletes across Southwest Florida, with standout performances in baseball, softball, lacrosse, tennis, and flag football.
In baseball, Naples demonstrated their offensive prowess by defeating ECS 7-6. Notably, Ryder Lutz contributed significantly with a four-hit performance, including a double, three runs, and an RBI. Meanwhile, SFCA triumphed over Sarasota Christian 9-3, where Ian Long and Kru Voltz each delivered two hits and RBIs. Dylan Plimpton also excelled, reaching base every time at bat. On the mound, Leo Montufar threw a complete game, limiting Sarasota Christian to just three hits while striking out five batters.
The softball games were equally thrilling. Gulf Coast overwhelmed Lely 16-4 in a shortened five-inning match, thanks to Emma Caetano’s powerful triple and two RBIs. Bishop Verot edged past St. John Neumann 3-1, highlighted by Cece Spencer’s perfect batting record and defensive brilliance. In another matchup, Seacrest dominated Everglades City 11-1, led by Caroline Porter who struck out nine batters over five innings and hit two doubles at the plate. Over at Riverdale, Addie Manetta starred as both a hitter and pitcher, securing victory with six strikeouts against Ida Baker.
Looking beyond traditional ball sports, Gateway's girls lacrosse team shut out Immokalee 20-0, powered by Amadis Bocalandro and Maley Joseph who each scored seven goals. Similarly, Estero blanked Cypress Lake 16-0, with Amelia Krupp, Samantha Moore, and Marissa Masink contributing four goals apiece. Avabella Falcone ensured her team’s success with an impressive first shutout of the season. Furthermore, Fort Myers' girls tennis squad defeated Bonita Springs 6-1, showcasing strong singles and doubles play from Gemma Plumb, Isabelle Rose, Anastasia Martin, and others.
