In a celebration of high school basketball excellence, the 2025 Exceptional Senior All-Star Games showcased remarkable talent and sportsmanship. At SUNY Fredonia’s Dods Hall, teams composed of seniors from various schools demonstrated their skills in both the boys' and girls' competitions. The Gray Team emerged victorious in both matches, with standout performances by Kaitlyn Horton and Jaydian Johnson, who were named MVPs. This event not only marked the end of these athletes’ high school careers but also highlighted the camaraderie and competitive spirit that define them.
On a crisp evening at Dods Hall, the girls' game commenced with the Green Team seizing an early lead thanks to contributions from Cassadaga Valley's Aliyah Hopkins and Emiley Anderson. However, the Gray Team, led by Panama senior Kaitlyn Horton, surged ahead in the second quarter and never relinquished control. Horton, who scored a game-high 18 points, was instrumental in securing the 79-63 victory. Her teammates, including Falconer's Augustine Krenzer and Frewsburg's Teghan Trocki, also reached double figures. Adding to the festivities, Brocton sophomore Jessica Lyon triumphed in the 3-point contest.
Later in the evening, the boys took the court for a thrilling encounter. Jamestown's Jaydian Johnson, who tallied a game-high 34 points, propelled the Gray Team to a 110-108 win over the Green Team. Johnson's explosive third quarter, where he netted 16 points, turned the tide in favor of his team. Despite a valiant effort from Westfield's Carson Swanson and Dunkirk's Greg Orcutt, who combined for impressive scoring, the Gray Team maintained its dominance. Notable performances also came from Panama's Bryce Hinsdale and Jordan Mescall, further cementing their status as top-tier athletes.
These games featured players who had recently competed in state championships, bringing an elevated level of competition and excitement to the all-star showcase.
