Hamtramck is set to host a remarkable Sunday event that combines the worlds of food and art. The Art & Cuisine Italian Night offers an immersive experience where gourmet dishes meet local artistic talent. This innovative concept was created by Chef Ezra Niles, Rosco Davis, and Stefon “Cap” McBride. Attendees will enjoy interactive Italian food stations alongside opportunities to engage with 13 local artists representing various mediums. A screening of the award-winning short film "Date Night" will also take place, adding another layer of creativity to the evening.
Inspired by a desire to promote local talent, this event aims to provide artists with broader exposure. Chef Ezra Niles, a Navy veteran whose culinary journey took him across the Mediterranean and Middle East, brings his signature dishes to the table. These include pesto basil chicken, shrimp carbonara pasta, and chili-lime bread paired with Italian wines. Meanwhile, guests can explore artworks ranging from paintings and photography to live tattoo demonstrations.
Rosco Davis highlights the importance of such events for Detroit's creative community. He believes they offer new audiences access to emerging filmmakers, photographers, and artists. The evening will feature experimental photography by Stefon McBride, who captures emotion through vibrant colors, as well as screenings of his critically acclaimed film co-directed with Cap McBride.
Beyond its immediate appeal, the event builds on the success of Cinema & Cuisine, which debuted earlier this year. That gathering combined three-course meals with local films, selling out quickly. Future plans include expanding the series with music-themed cuisine nights, promising even more variety for attendees.
This Sunday’s event at The Gallery Loft promises not only delicious food but also an inspiring showcase of artistic expression. By bringing together diverse talents in one space, it fosters connections between creators and patrons alike. Those attending will leave having experienced something truly special: a celebration of culture, creativity, and community.
