The last increase was a nearly 70% leap, which led to a $100 million class action lawsuit. In 2022, the company raised the admin fee from $1.95 to the current $3.30 per line. The lawsuit was initiated in 2023 and was settled this year, with Verizon not admitting to any wrongdoing and maintaining the increase. At that time, Verizon had warned that the fee was likely to rise again, although the specific timing was not disclosed. Between the first raise and the new one, Verizon has raised the price by 80% in just two years.
