WSP has made a significant appointment in the transit and rail sector. Angela Schwarz has been entrusted with the role of transit and rail market leader. She joined WSP in 2021 and brings with her an impressive 30 years of project management experience.
Enhancing Client Success and Market Presence
In her new position, Schwarz is dedicated to growing WSP's footprint in the transit and rail markets. She is committed to ensuring the success of clients by working closely with state and local transit agencies. This involves building strong relationships with consultants, industry associations, railroads, and contractors.For major projects like the Positive Train Control Project for New Jersey Transit and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's communication-based train control program for New York City transit, Schwarz will oversee planning, design, program management, and construction management. Her expertise will play a crucial role in these endeavors.She currently serves as a technical advisor for the MTA's Communications-Based Train Control system, which aims to enhance the efficiency and safety of subway system operations. This showcases her technical acumen and ability to handle complex technical challenges.Previously, she was the systems delivery package manager for the Purple Line Project in the Washington, D.C. area, a $2 billion, 16-mile light rail line. This experience has equipped her with valuable skills in managing large-scale projects.Technical Expertise and Leadership Strengths

She is also actively involved in modernizing infrastructure.Currently based in Atlanta, Schwarz has an extensive background. She was previously the rail & transit engineering practice leader at Montreal-headquartered AtkinsRéalis and has also worked at Metropolitan Atlanta Transit Consultants, AECOM, and Siemens. This diverse experience has given her a broad perspective and the ability to handle various projects and challenges.
