New Asian Food Court Emerges in Western New York
2025-03-28

In the heart of Amherst, adjacent to the Asia Food Market within the Asian Center Mall, a vibrant new Asian food court is emerging. This development has been long-awaited by local residents and enthusiasts of Asian cuisine since the grocery store's opening in 2017. Currently featuring two vendors, Fu’s BBQ House and MooMoo Tea, with a third soon to join—a Chinese bakery—the food court promises an array of culinary delights that reflect both traditional and modern tastes.

Established as part of the broader expansion plan for the Asian Center Mall, this new venture aims to cater not only to the growing demand for authentic Asian foods but also to create a cultural hub where diverse cuisines converge. Frederick Hinton, a regular customer at the nearby Asian Food Market, expressed his delight over the addition. “It’s fantastic,” he remarked while sampling dishes from Fu’s BBQ House. His anticipation was shared by many who frequented the market for its fresh produce and exotic ingredients.

Fu’s BBQ House, managed by Logan Howard, specializes in meticulously prepared roast meats such as duck, chicken, and pork. Since its launch two weeks ago, it has received positive feedback. Howard noted, “The response has been great so far. We’re still fine-tuning things, but everyone seems pleased.” Meanwhile, MooMoo Tea offers innovative beverages like blended teas crowned with vanilla-flavored whipped cream. Ming Mai, one of the managers at MooMoo Tea, envisions the space evolving into a bustling marketplace filled with stalls representing various cuisines, including those beyond Asia.

The arrival of these establishments marks the beginning of what could become a significant dining destination in Western New York. As more vendors join and contribute their unique offerings, the food court will likely transform into a melting pot of flavors and cultures. For now, the current lineup already provides visitors with a taste of what lies ahead—an exciting blend of tradition and innovation in every bite.

With each additional vendor bringing something distinctive to the table, the future looks promising for this burgeoning food court. It not only satisfies appetites but also fosters connections among people through shared experiences of enjoying diverse foods. As Frederick Hinton aptly put it, the wait has finally paid off, inviting others to explore and savor the rich tapestry of tastes unfolding right here in Amherst.
