A significant milestone was achieved this morning as the groundbreaking ceremony took place for an advanced, eco-friendly building on the outskirts of Falls Church. This innovative structure will serve as the global headquarters for HITT Construction Company and house Virginia Tech’s Coalition for Smart Growth. The event featured prominent figures including U.S. Representative Don Beyer, Mayor Letty Hardi of Falls Church, Fairfax County Supervisor Jimmy Bierman, along with key executives from both HITT and Virginia Tech.
The new facility boasts a cutting-edge design, featuring a six-story, 270,000-square-foot headquarters adjacent to Falls Church’s newly developed 10-acre site at its western edge. Scheduled to open in early 2026, the building will incorporate a 100,000-square-foot photovoltaic solar canopy designed to generate all the energy required for its operations. HITT is committed to fostering meaningful change through sustainability initiatives, research, and strategic collaborations.
During his lively speech, Rep. Beyer humorously remarked on the versatility of the company name, suggesting that without the extra "t," it could have been used in various playful phrases. He emphasized the importance of the partnership between HITT and Virginia Tech, highlighting how this investment represents a significant win for sustainable development and innovation in the region. The project symbolizes a promising future where environmental responsibility and technological advancement go hand in hand, setting a benchmark for future developments.
