A remarkable recovery in air travel was evident as the Cathay Pacific Group witnessed an unprecedented number of passengers on 2 February, setting a new post-pandemic milestone. The group's main carrier, Cathay Pacific, experienced a notable rise in passenger traffic, with a 14.3% increase in February compared to the previous year. Additionally, the airline's capacity, measured by Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs), expanded by 17%. Over the opening two months of 2025, Cathay Pacific achieved a robust 25.4% year-on-year growth in passenger figures.

Hong Kong's budget-friendly option, HK Express, also demonstrated impressive performance during this period. In February alone, the airline transported over 585,000 travelers, representing a significant 32% year-on-year increase. Moreover, its ASKs surged by 38%, reflecting substantial demand for affordable travel options. During the first two months of 2025, HK Express reported a commendable 39.1% year-on-year rise in passenger numbers. On 2 February, both airlines combined to carry more than 111,000 passengers in a single day, marking a historic achievement.

The resurgence in passenger numbers is complemented by Cathay Cargo’s continued success, as it managed 11.8% more freight in February compared to the same month last year. While Available Freight Tonne Kilometres increased by 3.5%, there was a slight decline in the load factor by 1.4 percentage points year-on-year. For the initial two months of 2025, total cargo tonnage rose by 12.8% year-on-year, showcasing the resilience and adaptability of the aviation sector in meeting evolving global demands. This achievement highlights the Cathay Pacific Group's pivotal role in redefining post-pandemic travel and trade, fostering economic vitality through efficient connectivity.
