From April 6th to 9th, Sony Electronics showcased its latest advancements in Las Vegas at the NAB Show 2025. The exhibit featured groundbreaking technologies across four key areas: live production solutions, news and production workflows, imaging solutions, and virtual production. These innovations aim to enhance connectivity, streamline processes, and empower creators at all levels with tools for greater flexibility and efficiency. Key highlights include a new Super35mm camera system with Variable Neutral Density (VND), an ultra-compact full-frame extension system, and advanced virtual production capabilities.

A Glimpse into Sony's Technological Marvels

In the vibrant setting of Las Vegas during spring, Sony introduced its HDC-F5500V Super 35mm 4K CMOS system camera, designed specifically for live productions. This state-of-the-art camera boasts a global shutter imager, PL lens mount, and optional VND capabilities, offering enhanced depth of field control and brightness management. Complementing this is the CNA-2 Camera Control Network Adapter, which now supports integrated site management through Sony’s Global Multi Camera System, enabling remote operation for large-scale events.

Another highlight was the debut of the HDC-P50A POV box camera, featuring installation versatility and direct IP connectivity. Paired with the HKC-VND50 variable ND filter unit and CNA-2 adapter, it allows centralized monitoring and remote operations. Additionally, Sony unveiled its latest professional monitors, including the BVM-HX1710(N) with peak luminance of 3,000 nits and improved operational tools like side-by-side display features.

For virtual production enthusiasts, Sony presented the Ocellus (ASR-CT1) camera tracking system—a markerless solution suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. This innovative system tracks feature points on video signals, providing seamless integration for broadcast and cinematic applications. Meanwhile, the company’s Virtual Production Tool Set gained enhancements, ensuring smoother pre-production and on-set workflows.

Beyond these, Sony also demonstrated updates to its Networked Live portfolio, showcasing improvements in switcher lineups and cloud-based platforms. Furthermore, Hawk-Eye Innovations highlighted their instant replay broadcast solution, HawkREPLAY, alongside asset management systems like HawkNEST.
