"The wind was coming from both directions, which made it particularly challenging to contain," he explained. The fire not only affected the construction site but also damaged nearby buildings, with spot fires reported two blocks away. One of the most impacted institutions was the DaVinci Academy, where double-pane windows on the eastern side sustained considerable damage.

Chief Mathieu noted that investigators were narrowing down the possible causes of the fire. They have ruled out several potential ignition sources, including heating devices and generators found on-site. "At this point, we believe the only viable source could be the temporary electrical cords supplying power to the construction site," Mathieu stated.
