Adolfson & Peterson Construction, a firm based in Minneapolis, has initiated two substantial renovation endeavors at high school facilities in Austin, Texas. These projects, collectively valued at approximately $114 million, signify a major investment in the educational infrastructure of the Austin Independent School District. The scope of work encompasses nearly 100,000 square feet of new and upgraded spaces, aiming to enhance the learning and recreational environments for students. The architectural design for both schools was provided by Houston-based PBK Architects, with the ambitious goal of project completion set for January 2027.

At McCallum High School, a significant expansion valued at almost $67 million is underway. This phase specifically targets the Science and Career & Technology Education departments. Adolfson & Peterson is constructing a state-of-the-art, three-story building spanning 54,000 square feet, which will house advanced computer labs, specialized robotics facilities, and dedicated spaces for wood shop activities, biology, chemistry, and physics. Furthermore, plans include the demolition of the existing 30,000-square-foot science wing, a reconfiguration of the secure entry vestibule, and a comprehensive remodel of the front office area. The contracted value for Adolfson & Peterson's work at McCallum High School is $32 million.

Concurrently, Anderson High School is undergoing an extensive renovation that features a 43,350-square-foot competition gymnasium capable of seating 1,800 spectators. This athletic complex will also include new locker rooms equipped with offices for coaches, modern training facilities, private dressing rooms for officials, and laundry services. Beyond the athletic improvements, common areas at Anderson High School will be revitalized to incorporate a Hall of Honor and dedicated trophy display cases. Security enhancements are also a priority, with plans to reconfigure the entry vestibule and front office to create a more secure environment. The overall cost for the Anderson project exceeds $47 million, with Adolfson & Peterson's specific contract valued at $24 million.

Tommy Meserole, Senior Director of Preconstruction at Adolfson & Peterson, expressed the company's commitment to these community-centric projects, emphasizing that schools are vital hubs for fostering growth and connection. The firm is dedicated to delivering exceptional quality work to support these campuses, underscoring the importance of these renovations beyond mere construction, as they contribute significantly to the future of the students and the broader community.

These twin initiatives by Adolfson & Peterson in Austin represent a forward-looking approach to educational facility development, highlighting a commitment to modern learning environments and enhanced extracurricular opportunities. The substantial investment and detailed scope of work at both McCallum and Anderson high schools are poised to leave a lasting positive impact, providing students with improved resources and fostering a stronger sense of community within the school district.
