The Cape Cod Women's Music Festival has become an annual tradition that combines entertainment with a noble cause. Since its inception in 2012, the event has served as both a showcase for local musicians and a fundraising platform to assist families battling cancer. At the very first festival, a young pop sensation named Meghan Trainor took the stage before she became globally renowned. Sarah Swain, the founder of this remarkable event, recalls how artists like Trainor captivated large audiences for the first time, setting the tone for future festivals.
Over the past decade, the festival has contributed significantly to the Cape Wellness Collaborative, raising over $250,000. This nonprofit organization offers various integrative services to support those affected by cancer on Cape Cod. Inspired by her mother's memory, Swain established the collaborative alongside attorney Bruce Bierhans. In addition to the music festival, Swain’s story is highlighted in the acclaimed documentary "Rise Above," which will be screened at Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater later this month. Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion and performances by Swain and musician Sarah Burrill.
This year’s edition promises another unforgettable evening filled with diverse musical acts under the tent at Payomet Performing Arts Center. Featured performers include Zoe Lewis, Mozelle Andrulot, Sarah Burrill, Zola Simone, Natalia Bonfini, Drumma Queens of Cape Cod, Alice Malone, Jordan Renzi, Lydia Parkington, Roxanne Layton, and the Monomoy Middle School Chorus. Attendees can enjoy light refreshments, beverages, and festival merchandise while contributing to a meaningful cause. Every dollar raised supports the Cape Wellness Collaborative, ensuring that neighbors facing cancer receive essential assistance. The festival exemplifies how creativity and community spirit can unite to make a difference in people's lives.
