Community Health Initiative at Kindergarten Round-Up
2025-05-03

On April 24, the Seneca Healthcare District took part in a significant community event at Chester Elementary School, known as the Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Round-Up. This annual gathering serves as an introduction for new families into the school environment. During this event, Seneca Healthcare District proudly provided free health screenings to attendees. The initiative was led by primary care provider Stefanie White, who conducted physical examinations, and registered dietitian Traci Haynes, who engaged with parents about nutritional concerns such as anemia in children. The event not only welcomed new families but also educated them on various health topics.

The Kindergarten Round-Up, organized yearly by the Plumas County Office of Education, is more than just an enrollment event; it fosters a supportive atmosphere for incoming students and their families. Stefanie White's contributions ensured that children received necessary basic physical assessments. Meanwhile, Traci Haynes played a pivotal role in addressing parental queries regarding child nutrition. These efforts aimed to enhance overall well-being among young participants.

In addition to the health services, the Seneca Healthcare District's booth offered informative materials and interactive activities tailored for both kids and their families. Chelssa Outland, the director of public relations at SHD, expressed deep appreciation for being involved in this meaningful occasion. She emphasized how crucial these events are in making families feel valued from the start. Auxiliary volunteers and other staff members contributed significantly by warmly greeting guests and distributing small gifts to the children.

Beyond health checks and educational resources, the event featured numerous informational booths and engaging hands-on activities designed specifically for children. This combination of services and entertainment created a vibrant and welcoming environment for all attendees.

This year's Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Round-Up exemplified collaboration between education and healthcare sectors to support community growth. Through their combined efforts, they successfully laid a foundation of trust and care for future students and their families, ensuring a positive first impression of the school community.
