Delhi Police's Heroes in Reuniting Lost Children

Operation Milap: A Journey Across Northern States

Head constables Seema Devi and Suman Hooda of Delhi Police Outer North District have been at the forefront of this heroic operation. They have faced numerous challenges while working with the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (ATHU). Their work takes them across the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana, dealing with various obstacles such as bad photographs, reticent locals, unfamiliar locations, and language barriers.

During Operation Milap, which took place from March when Hooda joined the AHTU until November, they have encountered cases where the children have been missing for years. In such situations, outdated photographs have been their only lead. But they haven't been deterred. They have often conducted door-to-door searches with the help of willing locals, including beggars in one instance. At other times, they have relied on the cyber division to track mobile phone locations and have walked across wide rural distances in completely unknown locales.

Challenges Faced and Overcome

They have faced numerous difficulties during their mission. As Hooda said, "We have walked for kilometers because of lack of transportation in such areas. Many people are ready to help us, but there are also those who think assisting police can lead to legal trouble." Despite these challenges, they have remained committed to their cause and have continued to work hard to reunite the children with their families.

The majority of the cases during the operation were due to elopement, drug addiction, or insufficient parental care. But through their perseverance and dedication, they have been able to make a difference in the lives of these children.

Recognition and Appreciation

The Director General of Delhi Police, Nidhin Valsan, expressed his pride in the exceptional work done by Seema and Suman. He said, "We are extremely proud of their achievement. Their work reinforces our resolve to combat child trafficking and guard our communities." Their efforts have set an example for other police officers and have inspired many.

It is truly inspiring to see the dedication and hard work of these police officers. Their story serves as a reminder of the importance of combating child trafficking and the need for collective efforts to protect our children.
