Prince Robert of Luxembourg, who guides Bordeaux's renowned Domaine Clarence Dillon, has been chosen to lead Primum Familiae Vini (PFV), an alliance comprising a dozen of the world's most distinguished wine dynasties. Upon assuming this prestigious role, he expressed his dedication to championing environmental responsibility and enhancing hospitality within the fine wine sphere throughout his term.
Taking over the rotating presidency from Charles Symington, of the distinguished Symington port house, Prince Robert conveyed his profound honor at leading this esteemed assembly of wine families. He extended his sincere appreciation to the Symington family for their exceptional hospitality during the recent PFV gathering in the picturesque Douro Valley, acknowledging their relentless pursuit of excellence. The Prince outlined his intentions to direct attention towards the growing demand for immersive experiences and unparalleled hospitality in the fine wine world. He emphasized that PFV members are uniquely positioned to offer access to their magnificent estates, thereby sharing their rich heritage and deep passion. Furthermore, he highlighted that ecological leadership would serve as another cornerstone of his presidency.
Prince Robert is currently overseeing the development of new facilities at Château Haut-Brion, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality across its cutting-edge wine cellars and guest services. This ambitious undertaking, envisioned by architect Annabelle Selldorf, is slated for completion in the latter half of 2026. The PFV noted that the rotational nature of the presidency among its members is specifically designed to guarantee a continuous influx of fresh perspectives and a dynamic vision for the organization's future.
Clarence Dillon, which became a part of the PFV in 2018, holds ownership of prestigious estates such as Château Haut-Brion, Château La Mission Haut-Brion, Château Quintus in Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, and the Clarendelle brand. Beyond wine production, the company has broadened its ventures to include haute cuisine, wholesale distribution, retail, and hospitality, notably through its two-Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Clarence, in Paris, and its exclusive fine wine boutique, La Cave du Château. Established in 1992, the PFV boasts an impressive roster of members, including Marchesi Antinori, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Joseph Drouhin from Burgundy, Egon Müller Scharzhof from the Mosel, Famille Hugel from Alsace, Pol Roger, Famille Perrin from the Rhône, Symington Family Estates, Tenuta San Guido from Tuscany, Familia Torres, and TEMPOS Vega Sicilia from Ribera del Duero.
