From May 5 to May 11, the News from Polska festival returns for its fifth edition, presenting a thought-provoking lineup that questions traditional boundaries and invites audiences to reimagine the potential of movement. The festival opens with a contemporary dance workshop titled "Between Disciplines," led by renowned artist Dominika Knapik. This session explores the intersection of theater, choreography, and performance art, drawing inspiration from Valeska Gert, an early pioneer of modern performing arts.

Throughout the week, diverse performances challenge conventional norms and spark dialogue about the power of movement. On May 7, the audience is invited to experience "To Bitch or Not to Bitch," a provocative piece created by the Hertz Haus collective. This work delves into themes of protest and empowerment through movement, encouraging viewers to reflect on societal expectations. Following this, Marta Wołowiec leads a workshop on intuitive dance and improvisation, emphasizing the importance of open expression. Her production "WoW" further examines historical phenomena like choreomania, blending history and artistry in a captivating narrative.

The festival concludes with "Cezary Goes to War," directed by Cezary Tomaszewski, offering a powerful exploration of identity and conflict. Hosted by the National Dance Center Bucharest (CNDB), this year's program highlights Poland's vibrant performing arts scene while fostering cross-cultural understanding. As part of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2025 and the Poland-Romania Cultural Season 2024-2025, the festival not only celebrates artistic innovation but also strengthens international ties.
