An array of new cinematic voices is set to take center stage at the 2025 International Critics Week, part of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. This year’s selection features seven films crafted by debut and sophomore directors hailing from diverse corners of the globe. Among them is “Left-Handed Girl,” a heartfelt family narrative unfolding in Taipei, helmed by Shih-Ching. Notably, this project benefits from the creative input of Sean Baker, who not only produced the film but also contributed as a co-editor. Baker's involvement adds an intriguing layer, considering his recent triumph with the Palme d’Or and Oscar-winning Best Picture.

This year’s jury comprises an eclectic mix of industry professionals, reflecting the global nature of cinema itself. Members include Spanish filmmaker Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Moroccan journalist Jihane Bougrine, cinematographer Josee Deshales, Indonesian producer Yulia Evina Bhara, and British actor Daniel Kaluuya. Their collective expertise will undoubtedly bring fresh perspectives to evaluating the competing films.
