In a significant move within the broadcast television industry, Nexstar Media Group has announced the appointment of Bill Nardi as their new Vice President of Station Operations. This decision comes as Mark Turner retires after an illustrious career spanning over three decades in broadcast television. Nardi will take charge of overseeing daily broadcast operations for Nexstar's owned-and-operated stations and properties managed through shared services agreements. Additionally, he will contribute to projects supporting The CW Network, NewsNation, Antenna TV, and Rewind TV.
On May 12th, Nexstar welcomed Bill Nardi into his new role, where he will report directly to Blake Russell, Executive Vice President of Operations at Nexstar. Based out of Nexstar's headquarters in Irving, Texas, Nardi brings extensive experience from his previous positions with TEGNA, Dejero Labs, and NBCUniversal O&O WRC-4 in Washington, D.C. His responsibilities include directing technical output for Nexstar’s television stations while also assisting with strategic initiatives for various networks under the Nexstar umbrella.
Prior to joining Nexstar, Nardi served as Vice President of Station Operations at TEGNA, formerly known as Gannett, headquartered in Northern Virginia. There, he managed the technical needs and engineering requirements for 64 television stations and their streaming platforms. He also played a crucial role in developing disaster recovery plans and enhancing physical safety measures across the organization.
Before his tenure at TEGNA, Nardi was based in Ontario, Canada, working for Dejero Labs as Vice President of Broadcast Operations and Global Support. In this capacity, he oversaw sales support, technical operations, and product development. Earlier in his career, he spent eight years in Washington, D.C., serving as Director of Technology and Broadcast Operations for NBCUniversal O&O WRC-4.
Mark Turner, who is retiring effective July 1st, leaves behind a legacy marked by innovation and leadership in broadcast television. Under his guidance, Nexstar successfully launched NewsNation and expanded its station group and broadcast operating centers nationwide.
"I am excited to join a forward-thinking company that leverages cutting-edge technology to enhance broadcasting and digital experiences," expressed Nardi regarding his new position. "Mark Turner has set an impressive standard, and I look forward to continuing his work."
Blake Russell praised Nardi's appointment, emphasizing his talent and innovative approach to managing large-scale broadcast operations. With Nardi at the helm, Nexstar aims to maintain its reputation as a leader in the ever-evolving world of media and technology.
This appointment highlights Nexstar's commitment to maintaining high standards in broadcast operations. It underscores the importance of experienced leadership in navigating technological advancements and ensuring seamless delivery of content across multiple platforms. As the media landscape continues to transform, having a seasoned professional like Nardi ensures Nexstar remains competitive and adaptive in meeting audience expectations.
