The OnePlus 13 is set to make a big splash with its 6,000mAh battery. This is a significant increase of 500mAh compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus 12R, which already boasted one of the best battery life test results. With this added capacity, the OnePlus 13 is expected to offer even longer usage times and better performance.
OnePlus has also focused on durability with the OnePlus 13. It uses Gorilla Glass 7i on both the front and back, along with an aluminum body. While it may not have the flagship-grade Victus 2 or Armor glass, it is designed to be scratch and drop-resistant, ensuring that your phone stays protected.
The OnePlus 13R is the more budget-friendly option, but it doesn't skimp on features. It also comes with a 6,000mAh battery, giving users long-lasting power. Additionally, it has been made thinner, measuring just 8mm thick, which is 0.8mm thinner than the OnePlus 12R.
For those on a budget, the OnePlus 13R uses Gorilla Glass 7i, which is specifically designed for less expensive phones. It offers similar scratch and drop resistance as promised, providing peace of mind without breaking the bank.
Both the OnePlus 13 and 13R are rumored to have triple cameras. While the main and ultrawide cameras are likely to be similar, the third cameras could differ. The OnePlus 13 is expected to have a telephoto lens, while the 13R might have a macro lens like last year. There's a chance that OnePlus will be generous and include a telephoto lens in the 13R as well.
Both phones are equipped with a Clear Burst mode to assist with photo bursts and an Action Mode to capture sharp images of fast-moving subjects. These features will be handy for photographers and enthusiasts alike.
The OnePlus 13R will be available in two color options: Nebula Noir and Astral Trail. These star-themed names add a touch of uniqueness to the phones. However, it's not clear how many of the announced features will apply to both phones. We hope that most, if not all, of the features like IP68/69 water and dust resistance and AI enhancements for the OxygenOS interface will be included in the 13R.
OnePlus will provide more answers at the event on January 7th. Until then, smartphone enthusiasts will have to wait patiently to see what these new phones have to offer.
