The recall was prompted by findings from routine quality checks that indicated the presence of salmonella in certain finished products. According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), this bacterium can cause a range of symptoms, from mild gastrointestinal discomfort to severe infections, particularly in vulnerable populations such as young children and elderly individuals. As of early February, no illnesses had been reported linked to these products.

The recalled product, identified by a gold lid and marked with lot number 120824-01, has an expiration date set for August 2026. Consumers who purchased this specific batch are advised not to consume it and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. The distribution spanned 18 states, including Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
