Challenges Faced by the Toy Drive
The fundraising dinner, which is typically held before the Toy Drive, had to be postponed due to a lack of sponsorship and community support. This meant that the funds needed to purchase more toys for the kids were not available. Despite these difficulties, the Toy Drive is determined to continue providing support to families in Tehama County.Any family in Tehama County that needs assistance in getting toys for their children can apply. The only requirement is that they be a resident of the county. Once the application is approved, parents will be informed of the address of the Toy Shop about 2 days before it opens.
The Toy Shop Experience
When the toy shop finally opens, parents have the opportunity to go inside and select toys that they believe are best suited for their kids. Organizer Keith Soules emphasizes that this process has been highly successful, allowing children to receive presents that are meaningful to them. Parents are given 15 minutes to pick up toys.For kids with special needs, they have the privilege of coming in with their parents to choose a gift from a selection of unique sensory toys. Soules takes extra measures by turning off the music to create a more peaceful environment and allowing the volunteers to leave the building.
The Mission and Donation Details
The mission of the Tehama County Toy Drive is clear - to ensure that every kid, regardless of their circumstances, has a Christmas and a toy. All the money donated goes directly to the organizers to purchase more toys. You can also contribute by donating toys at their Toy Drive on Saturday, Dec. 7, in front of the Walmart in Red Bluff from 8 am until 4 pm.This is a community effort that aims to bring joy and hope to the children of Tehama County during the holiday season. With the support of volunteers and donors, the Toy Drive is making a significant difference in the lives of many families.
