Changes in Sports Sectional Alignments for Indiana High Schools
2025-05-07

A recent decision by the IHSAA Executive Committee has introduced modifications to sectional alignments across four fall sports, impacting various high schools throughout Indiana. The adjustments consider shifts in classifications due to the Tournament Success Factor, ensuring competitive balance within each sport. In football, East Central's Class 5A Sectional will experience a minor change as Whiteland joins other familiar teams like Columbus East, Franklin Community, and Seymour. This reshuffling aims to enhance fairness and excitement in upcoming competitions.

Preparations are already underway for these fall tournaments, with specific dates set for each sport's sectional events. Boys and girls soccer will kick off their sectionals on October 6, while girls volleyball begins theirs on October 14. Football sectionals are scheduled to start on October 24, promising thrilling matchups across the state. Additionally, host sites for girls volleyball will be revealed later in June, adding anticipation for fans and participants alike.

Sports play an integral role in fostering teamwork, discipline, and community spirit among students. These changes reflect a commitment to maintaining equitable competition levels, encouraging all athletes to strive for excellence. By embracing these updates, schools can continue to inspire young talents and promote sportsmanship, setting a positive example for future generations of players and spectators.
