A remarkable achievement has been accomplished by a performing arts program based at Cobb County's Pebblebrook High School. The 16-member vocal ensemble, Sonic Edge, emerged victorious in the Varsity Vocals International Championship of High School A Cappella (ICHSA). This prestigious competition brought together over 200 groups and more than 3,100 students from across the nation, yet Sonic Edge stood out as champions during their inaugural competitive season. Their journey began with regional contests in Tennessee and Florida before advancing to the finals through a wildcard video submission.

Success did not come without challenges for Sonic Edge. Despite placing third at the Winter Park semifinals, the group seized an opportunity that ultimately propelled them onto the national stage in New York City. In addition to claiming the overall championship title, individual accolades were also awarded. Sydney Gruver was recognized as Outstanding Soloist for her performance of “Uninvited,” while Amber Lowe received Outstanding Vocal Percussion honors for the ensemble's full set. These achievements reflect both individual talent and collective effort.

The triumph of Sonic Edge is credited to the supportive environment fostered within Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts (CCCEPA), directed by Robert Connor.
