Expanding Horizons: Hub Coffee Roasters Opens Largest Café in Reno
2025-03-17

A new milestone has been reached by Hub Coffee Roasters with the unveiling of their largest café yet, nestled within Reno's vibrant Reno Experience District (RED) development. This spacious 3,100-square-foot establishment not only serves as a hub for coffee enthusiasts but also highlights unique partnerships with Colombian coffee farms. Featuring an inviting atmosphere and state-of-the-art facilities, the café continues to uphold Hub Coffee Roasters' commitment to community engagement and sustainable practices.

Nestled in the heart of the RED development, this multi-level café offers extensive seating options spread across two floors, perfect for hosting meetings or small gatherings. The interior design blends industrial elements like steel and concrete with natural touches such as potted greenery and wooden accents. Two distinct bars cater to diverse customer preferences—one for high-volume orders and another dedicated to single-origin espresso experiences.

Hub Coffee Roasters Owner Mark Trujillo emphasizes the café's Nevada-centric theme through mountain-inspired wall art and desert-toned decor. Golden bike wheels adorn the walls, symbolizing the brand's cycling roots and its "Good as Gold" philosophy. Since its inception in a Midtown Reno garage back in 2009, Hub has grown significantly, expanding both its roasting capabilities and retail presence.

The pivotal moment in Hub's journey occurred in 2016 when Mark Trujillo mentored Vicente Mejia, who later co-founded Clearpath Coffee in Colombia. Their collaboration led to the acquisition of three Colombian coffee farms, including Finca Las Nubes, Finca Las Veraneras, and the organic-certified Finca Monte Bonito. These partnerships ensure a steady supply of meticulously sourced beans, ranging from year-round offerings to seasonal specialty selections.

Harrison DeSio, Hub's Head Roaster, oversees the roasting process at a dedicated 2,500-square-foot facility in Reno. At the RED location, cutting-edge equipment such as the Eversys Enigma and Victoria Arduino Eagle Tempo ensures top-notch espresso quality, while a Ground Control machine handles cold brews and rotating single-origin hot drip coffees.

Beyond its stellar coffee offerings, the upstairs area of the RED café is available for rental, accommodating up to 76 guests for various events. With plans to introduce a beer and wine program soon, Hub Coffee Roasters continues to redefine itself as a cornerstone of community life in Reno. This latest addition exemplifies the company's unwavering dedication to excellence and innovation in every cup served.
